Cookies & Storage
The small pieces of data that keep your library and sign-in working.
1. Sign-in cookie
The browser uses the streamfinitytv_session cookie to authenticate requests to the library server. It is HttpOnly and has a seven-day expiry. Signing out invalidates the current session. Blocking the cookie may prevent browser account features from working.
2. Optional Google sign-in
When Google sign-in is enabled in a browser, its sign-in library loads from Google and Google may receive browser and connection information under its own privacy policy. A temporary HttpOnly streamfinitytv_google_nonce cookie and server challenge expire after ten minutes and help protect the sign-in process. Successful sign-in clears that cookie. Google sign-in remains unavailable until the deployment is configured; email sign-in does not load Google's sign-in library when Google is disabled.
3. Preferences on your device
Local storage remembers your selected playlist and profile, the library server address where configured, and demo preferences such as sample favourites, viewing history and avatar appearance. These values use existing streamly.* keys. Clearing site storage resets these device preferences.
4. Native apps
Windows and mobile apps use platform-backed session storage rather than putting account tokens into ordinary browser local storage. The underlying app may also cache assets and playback data needed for normal operation.
5. Analytics and advertising
This build does not set advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Development builds collect a small set of performance timings in memory for local debugging; these timings are not sent to an analytics service. Providers or external websites you choose to visit may use their own storage policies.
6. Managing storage
Use your browser’s site-data controls to inspect or clear cookies and local storage. You can sign out within the app. Clearing device storage does not remove a server account or cancel a provider subscription; use Account to delete app account data and contact your provider about subscriptions.
